‘Grow together every day’

The SchOOL Foundation is a public school group with 18 regular primary schools and 2 schools for students with special needs in Lelystad. Public education has it's own mission: it guarantees good and valuable education for everyone in our democratic society. Our schools are spread all over the city and are all unique. Together we share the promise we make to our children:

You are welcome with us. We help you to discover who you are, what you can do and what you want. We give you your own responsibility for your learning process. We believe this is important. Education in our schools encourages collaboration and sharing. Because everyone matters! We inspire you to be open to differences and discover how powerful difference is.

We have a Language Class especially for children in groups 3 to 8 (approximately 6 to 12 years old) who have been in the Netherlands for less than a year and who do not yet speak enough Dutch. With an intensive program and in small groups with a safe and structured learning environment, individual attention is given to the Dutch language in all its facets. In a year, children can develop in such a way that they can participate in Dutch society and in regular education. Of course, cooperation with the parents is indispensable. The Language Class is part of Obs de Poolster. 

Our schools also offer support for children who have been in the Netherlands for longer, but who are not yet fluent in the language.
